Monthly Donation - Daisy Openshaw
Each and every month Stubbs Dental donates the proceeds of all new patient exams to a deserving member or organization within our local communities. May's recipient is Daisy Openshaw.
Daisy is 12 years old. She was born with Fibular Hemimelia. Fibular hemimelia is a birth defect where part or all of the fibular bone is missing, as well as associated limb length discrepancy, foot deformities, and knee deformities. Fibular hemimelia (FH) is a very rare disorder, occurring in only 1 in 40,000 births.
She had her first amputation surgery at 8 months old and was fitted for her first prosthetic leg at 10 months old. Since then Daisy has had 17 prosthetic legs made for her due to her growth.
Since her first amputation she has had over a dozen amputation revisions surgeries. Her most recent surgery was June 9th, 2020. Daisy will continue to have amputation revision surgeries until she has stopped growning.
Stubbs Dental was able to donate $2,040 to help Daisy and her family cover medical expenses.
