2021 Mother's Day New Smile Giveaway Winner: Teresa Allison
Our 2021 Mother's Day giveaway has concluded! After receiving over 650 nominations and spending hundreds of hours reading about the amazing people in our community we have found a winner! It is always an extremely difficult process to pick, but after many hours of deliberation we were able to narrow it down and are very excited to announce our winner, Teresa Allison!
Teresa received many heartfelt nominations from her friends and family outlining the amazing and caring person she is. We wanted to share some excerpts from those nominations with you.
“When I am feeling beat down I know right where to go to express my upsets in life. Teresa is always available and somehow always says exactly what I need to hear to straighten me back up. I leave a chat with her feeling so worth it. She’s an amazing mom to DJ who is autistic and spends a lot of time with him. She’s always full of great ideas. When DJ was in school she would always volunteer to host and she is a member of the PTA. She makes crafts for DJs teachers instead of spending money on gifts and for DJs birthday she gave his classmates all the things that kids would need to decorate their own cupcakes. She comes up with such great ideas and she is such a crafter . One year for Christmas she surprised me with a collage of my cat Tyler and she even put the captions under each picture. It was the BEST Christmas present I ever received. So I sent her a pink toolbox and I know she uses it all the time. She just loves helping people. and I’m legally blind and have migraines and I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve asked her to help me and she never says no. No matter what’s going on in her life at that moment. I truly consider her one of my best friends and it’s weird we’ve never met in person but I know that this smile makeover would help her so much.”
“Teresa is a very special lady, very kind and always doing what she can for others. She is the type that will put herself out to make another persons day. I can see in her face how much pleasure she gets from helping others. It is rare to find someone so selfless. Not only is she a great person she is also my mechanic, my maintenance, maid and counselor. She is a smart lady and not afraid to take on a project. If something needs fixed and I can not afford to pay someone to have it fixed she will go to her computer and learn how to do the job and do it herself. She has been such a wonderful person in my life. I know I am not the only person who feels this way about her. She leaves a positive mark in every persons life she comes into contact with. It is said that God gives us grace to the humble. Teresa is the most graceful person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing in my lifetime. I can not think of anyone who deserves to have something as wonderful and life changing as this smile makeover more than Teresa. “
“Since the pandemic started causing school to close in March 2020 Teresa has added the responsibility of homeschooling her son. She amazes me at how easily she can adapt to changes in routine. I watched as she put together a lesson plan she had learned how to do by asking questions to fellow autism parents in group pages she joined on Facebook. She then began making her own worksheets for his curriculum, She built him a desk and chair from scrap wood she found that had been left out for the trash truck. She jumped right into the role of at home teacher. The lesson she chose to work with her son on for the majority of his school session is speech therapy and using an assistive communication device. If he were to find his voice this would make way for a much better future for him. He is in the best hands he can be for achieving success because he is fortunate to have a mommy who will open every pathway necessary to get him there. She is a great mom and an extraordinary person in all aspects. Her love for helping people find happiness is endless. I think most of us have forgotten that concept. By that, I mean that we have forgotten the importance of loving and encouraging each other, that how we love others is a reflection of who we really are as a person. It embodies our strength, our capacity for empathy and compassion. It reflects our morals."
“She is very in tune with the needs of others. I did not know Teresa prior to her raising her son, but I do know that he is very lucky to have her for a mother. She is patient and she stays calm when others are frazzled or falling apart. I feel that it is these innate abilities that literally are a Godsend to her son DJ, and will provide him the best possible opportunities in life.”
Teresa has clearly had a profound effect on all those around her, and her kindness and willingness to help has improved the lives of everyone she touches. It brings us great joy to help such an amazing person and we are so excited to give Teresa a brand new permanent set of teeth with the All-on-4® procedure! Check back for updates as we start this life changing journey.
