Dr. Stubbs Dental Mission | Global Dental Relief
Dr. Stubbs recently had the opportunity to serve the people of the Yucatan Peninsula and assist in providing dental care to thousands of children through the Global Dental Relief program. Their mission is to bring free dental care to children around the globe, and they have already served in Nepal, India, Guatemala, Mexico, Kenya, and Cambodia. Teams of volunteer dentists, hygienists, assistants, and general volunteers deliver treatment and preventive care in dental clinics that serve children in schools and remote villages.
With a vision to transform lives and cultivate community through volunteerism, they provide opportunities for diverse groups of volunteers to explore the world and bring free dental care and oral hygiene education to thousands of impoverished children.
Stubbs stayed in the small beach town of Akumal, and traveled a short distance to the clinic each day to provide care to the locals. During this time he treated 412 patients over the course of the week. They donated clinical services such as pediatric dentistry as well as oral surgery. Those who chose to volunteer all tout the organization's amazing culture and mission.

It is such a privilege to be a guest in a local community for a period of time instead of just a traveler passing through. We have the opportunity to learn from each other, share a smile, laugh or hug and further a little global understanding.
The clinic volunteers worked so hard. The staff was incredibly efficient and high energy. They know the culture and have the relationships in place for this type of project to work. The best use of my time and energy!
Being a part of an international volunteer group serving others has been a dream from the first day of dental school. Seeing that dream become a reality is so rewarding and energizing — it makes me want to volunteer over and over again!
Not many people get the opportunity to practice their career and do what they love helping disadvantaged kids in a developing country. I’m so lucky to have had the chance to immerse myself into their culture and lives. What an amazing experience and trip of a lifetime!
