Stubbs Dental Has the Solution for You
It's understandable that dental visits are not the average patient’s favorite activity. But for those with dental anxiety, a trip to the dentist is far worse, inspiring a profound sense of dread and nervousness, that can cause them to avoid the dentist altogether.
Dental phobia is common and very treatable with the help of sedation dentistry. Our practices in Bountiful, Murray, Lehi, and Layton, Utah, work with a licensed anesthesiologist to offer IV sedation so you can confidently undergo dental treatment and care for your teeth.
How Does IV Sedation Dentistry Work?
On the day of your procedure, a licensed anesthesiologist will administer the sedative intravenously and continue to monitor the level of medication for your safety. In mere minutes, you will fall into a deep state of relaxation, but will be able to respond to questions from the doctor and, of course, breathe on your own. While you are not technically "put to sleep," you will have a dulled sense of consciousness and minimal recollection of the procedure.

Your Comfort and Health Are Our Priorities
Stubbs Dental, serving patients throughout Utah, offers IV sedation to honor their larger commitment to patient-oriented care and top-of-the-line service. Our patients not only have access to different levels of sedation, but an array of luxury amenities including Pandora music, Netflix, and neck pillows–all at your fingertips.
Stubbs Dental understands that pleasant visits to the dentist lead to more regular care, and better oral health, which is ultimately our goal. "Pain-free, comfortable, friendly..." 5-Star Reviews from Our Patients
I went here on a whim and I was SO happy I did. They were so easy to work with, the entire process was affordable, pain-free, comfortable, friendly. Truly, all the best things you would look for in a dentist. I came back again to get my teeth cleaned and it was so wonderful and relaxing. Which is odd because dentist offices don't usually inspire the word "relaxing." I will definitely be back.
View on GoogleAnyone who needs a dentist should go see Stubbs Dental. I went in with tooth pain and had to have teeth removed. I expected pain and discomfort, but that didn't happen. I was so surprised! And the whole experience in the office was so nice. The staff was so very kind, and they talked to me, not at me. While I was healing, the instructions were easy to follow. I've never had a better dental experience. Thank you, Layton Stubbs Dental.

Do I Qualify?
While most patients are good candidates for IV sedation dentistry, there are some reasons you may not qualify for treatment. Underlying health conditions like heart and liver disease may increase the risk of complications. We also do not recommend sleep dentistry for women who are pregnant or nursing.
Sleep Dentistry Is Not Just for Anxious Patients
Have highly sensitive teeth and gums
Do not respond well to traditional numbing techniques
Are undergoing multiple procedures at the same time
Have easily triggered gag reflexes
Are undergoing oral surgery such as dental implants or All-on-4®
"This office gets my 5-star rating..."
All of the staff is amazing but Darika stood out to me! She did my cleaning and she explained everything that was going to happen to me and then made sure I was comfortable. She asked before we started if I wanted her to numb my mouth for the procedure that was going to follow the cleaning and was very gentle with me. I appreciate everyone at Stubbs Dental and thank you Darika for making sure my needs are met!

The medical staff are very professional in their duties and explain what procedures will have to be taken. They take time to show the x-rays and answer any questions. I have recommended this office to my friends.

FAQs about Sleep Dentistry
How much does sleep dentistry cost?
While sedation dentistry does add to your overall treatment costs, it is important to view it as an investment in your long-term oral health. By spending a little extra on routine and necessary care, you will save much more on future restorative work. Sometimes, dental insurance will cover part of the costs. However, if your plan does not include sedation, or you are uninsured, we offer several financing options including CareCredit® and LendingClub®, to help break up out-of-pocket costs. Are there any risks associated with sleep dentistry?
Not everyone will respond to IV sedation in the same way, so it is important to thoroughly discuss your medical history with the dentist so we can treat you safely. Some patients are less receptive to medications and may not feel like they are in a state of sleep. Complications after treatment are rare, but we encourage you to contact our office immediately if you suspect any problems.
How will I feel afterward?
It is normal for you to feel slightly drowsy after the procedure and you should plan for someone to drive you home. We recommend getting plenty of sleep afterward and avoiding strenuous activity, alcohol, and operating heavy machinery for at least 24 hours.
