What Are Porcelain Veneers?

A porcelain veneer is a custom-designed shell that fits over the front of a tooth. When in place, a veneer keeps cosmetic flaws from view, making your smile look properly aligned and stain-free. Stubbs Dental offers veneers crafted from e.max®, a modern alternative to the porcelain of the past. This lithium disilicate pressed glass-ceramic is extremely durable, and closely resembles a natural tooth.

How Veneers Work

Rejuvenate Your Smile With Custom Porcelain Veneers

Improve the Look of Your Teeth

Porcelain veneers are an excellent option for all kinds of cosmetic problems that affect the appearance of the teeth. In fact, a dentist can give your smile a dramatic upgrade simply by placing one or two veneers that make your smile look healthy and symmetrical.

Maintain Natural Tooth Structure

Only a small amount of enamel is removed to place a porcelain veneer. This is different from dental crowns and other tooth-colored restorations. Maintaining the greatest amount of natural dental tissue possible is best for your oral health.

Boost Your Self-Confidence

Custom dental veneers can make your smile look flawless and help you feel great about your appearance. This can open up new personal and professional opportunities. Many patients with porcelain veneers find it easier to make good first impressions.

I had an AMAZING experience with Stubbs Dental. From the very start everyone was so kind and helpful. They took time to understand my concerns and to answer all my questions. I didn’t have “my own” dentist before visiting Stubbs — now I do. Moving forward, I am only going there for my dental needs. I wholeheartedly recommend them to friends and family.

I had an amazing experience with Stubbs Dental as a new patient. The whole staff was extremely kind and very helpful. Darika and Dr. Phillips were fantastic and I loved how they took the time to explain things to me. This office provides exceptional customer service and I would give them 10 stars if I could! I have found my go-to dentist and will be referring anyone and everyone I know.

The Veneer Procedure What Patients Can Expect

It takes two visits scheduled about two weeks apart to complete the veneer process.

Day of Procedure

Initial Appointment

During your initial visit, we will perform a full exam and discuss your goals. We can also compare porcelain, e.max, and other materials, and go over why one may be more ideal for you.

Prepping the Teeth

A small amount of enamel is removed from the front of a tooth. Usually it's just half a millimeter. Removing this small amount of tissue ensures that the finished veneer will fit seamlessly and blend in with your smile.

Taking Impressions

Once the tooth is prepped, we take impressions. The impressions are sent to a partnering dental lab, which is where the dental veneers are created.

Temporary Veneers

A temporary veneer is placed onto the prepped tooth. This protects the tooth while waiting for the custom dental veneer. We'll provide proper care instructions for your temporary veneer during the appointment process.

Fabricating the Veneer

Skilled dental lab technicians will fabricate the durable custom veneer. This veneer will fit precisely, and is also color-matched to look natural once it is in place.

Placing the Finished Dental Veneer

When the custom veneer is completed, patients return to our practice. The temporary veneers are removed and the custom veneers are checked for fit before they are secured in place.

How Long Do Veneers Last?

/

With proper care, a porcelain veneer can last 10 years or longer. The material can play a role in this, which is why we recommend e.max rather than traditional porcelain. Other factors can also play a role in overall lifespan.
